So Much for a Quiet Day

So much for a quiet day! A simple server reboot turned into hours of troubleshooting, swearing, and trying to figure out why my dashboard wouldn’t come back online. Thankfully, I got it working in the end.

Well, so much for having a quiet day. 😂

I ended up spending a good chunk of today fighting with my server because apparently it decided it didn’t want to cooperate anymore.

I did some updates and rebooted it, and suddenly my website and dashboard weren’t playing nice. The website came back, but the dashboard? Nope. Not happening.

So began the troubleshooting. Tailscale wasn’t ready when Nginx tried to start, which meant my portal was down again.

And let me tell you, there was A LOT of swearing involved. 🤣

I tried fixing it, rebooted, and guess what? It broke again.

At that point, I was getting pretty damn frustrated. But I went back, figured out what was happening, and changed the startup check to give Tailscale more time to get itself sorted out before Nginx starts.

Then came another reboot.

I was honestly expecting something to go wrong again, but nope. Everything came back up! The website worked, the portal worked, and I didn’t have to manually start anything.

FINALLY. 😂🙌

There’s something really satisfying about fixing a problem that’s been driving you absolutely nuts. Especially when you reboot afterward and it actually works the way it’s supposed to.

So yeah, that was a good chunk of my day.

Not exactly exciting stuff, but it’s a little victory, and I’ll take it.

Now I’m hoping the rest of the day is a little less eventful. I’ve had enough excitement from a server to last me a while. 🤣

Although, knowing my luck, I probably shouldn’t say that out loud.
